The hotshop

Martin gathers clear glass from the furnace at 1080°C. He skillfully blends in coloured glass powders and canes to build up his designs. A gradual process of melting in the colours and blowing the glass results in stunning pieces - no two the same.

It takes longer to build up the decoration on the molten glass than to blow the form. Each piece can take anything from half-an-hour to one-and-a-half hours to make. The finished piece then goes into an annealing kiln and cools down over 12 hours, so that the glass does not break.
